Propaganda is used by many companies to promote their services, products, and or ideas. Such propaganda techniques are used in all commercials such as a Crest Pro-Health commercial and a Colgate Total commercial. In these particular commercials they both use several propaganda techniques such as bandwagon, plain folks, card stacking, weasel words, and glittering generalities. All of these are used in order to persuade viewers to buy their product as well as promote it. Bandwagon – advertisers purse suede people to purchase the product by stating that everyone is buying it or that it had worked for everyone else why wouldn't it work for you. This technique is used in both commercials it is also used in the same way. Plain folks – this technique trust to persuade viewers by telling them that they are everyday people just like the viewers. This technique is also common and effective because when you were seeing that there are everyday people that use this product they feel like they belong. …show more content…

They tried to divert attention from the issue. This technique is used more in the Colgate total commercial as opposed to the crest Pro health commercial. They do this by avoiding to mention all of the hidden things that might go along with the product. For example the person in the Colgate ad states that she saw a little peanut in the scene and her dentist said to switch her toothpaste to Colgate in order to fix the problem. What he might have failed to mention is that there could be a different reason to why her gums were
