At the age of 25, Muhammad married a Maccan widow named Khadija. Khadija happened to be very wealthy, which led to the elevation of Muhammad's status making him more known around Mecca, which truly helped later on when he began to spread his new religion. Even though Muhammad was living a happy life with his new wife, his suffering and hardship was not yet over. Mohammad had eight children with his wife, six of which were girls. The only two boys that Muhammad and his wife gave birth too died at infancy. One day, while meditating in the cave at Mount Hira, Mohammad was visited by an angel known as Angel Gabriel. Angel Gabriel spoke to Mohammad the word of God and reveals to him what are known as the first ayats. At this moment, through the start of his first revelation and prophecy, Muhammad knew that God had chosen him to bring this religion into the world and spread it (The Life of Muhammad the Prophet, The Dawn of Prophethood). This was the start of Muhammad's role as a prophet, as well as the start of the religion of Islam which he would now bring into the world. This moment of divine prophecy where the word of God was revealed to Muhammad was one of the most important steps of Muhammad's life, because it was the end of his road to his prophecy, as well as the beginning of his new religion and his job of spreading it to the world. With this revelation, Muhammad brought Islam into the world, affecting it for generations to come as it soon became one of the most popular and known religion worldwide even in the present day. Muhammad's mission as a prophet to spread the new religion he brought into his world was a success as his religion lasted for several years after his death even to present day affecting the minds of countless people in his time as well as in generations to come. Muhammad's first Prophecy began a period of divine revelation for Mohammad ending in his death 23 years later.
