In Support of Labor Unions
I personally do not favor labor unions. However, I decided to stretch myself with this assignment by taking a position I ordinarily would not defend. I believe my perspective has been widened by taking a stance to defend a position I ordinarily would oppose. This exercise has opened my eyes a little to view the other sides point of view.
In support of labor unions, labor unions offer workers a means by which to organize and therefore a bargaining chip with the organizations that employee their members. It's only through organization that workers are given a voice for their concerns. That's why the agreements unions negotiation on behalf of our members are called collective bargaining agreements.
Without organization, the workers have no voice and employers have no concern for their laborers other than to keep squeezing and stripping away their rights in

This is because the unorganized laborers not only don't receive the same level of compensation that labor unions receive, they also don't receive the same level of training. That for every manufacturing job held by our members there are corresponding service jobs created. Our members form a large base of consumers in every location we are represented. Without our members being able to produce goods to support themselves the local economies in many of these locations would collapse. There would be less demand for groceries, oil changes, lawn care services. In fact, just about every service industry would be drastically impacted in a negative way if our members were not able to produce goods domestically to support
