Qualifications for Your Future Affirmative Action is not necessary because colleges spend too much money on diversity training, it strengthens racial stereotypes, and highly qualified people are getting passed over. Some might say that we need Affirmative Action to help minorities that were brought down by the “man”. The fact is, Affirmative Action is doing more bad than it is good. First off, ivy league schools are spending way too much money on a program that does minimal to help impoverished minorities. Yale pledged to spend fifty-million on diversity training for their faculty. Brown spent 100 million for their diversity training (1). This hurts the college students who …show more content…

Lower qualified people are chosen because of race, and higher qualified people are being passed over because of their race (2). The average Asian scores 200 points higher than the average African American, and eighty points higher than the average White person who goes to the same college(1). According to the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology when members of different races are mixed together the level of prejudice lowers (1). Affirmative Action does not just help minorities economically, but it helps them socially. When you increase the level of minorities at colleges people are able to live in a place for four years where different races are forced to work together. This will help create a world where everyone is equal, and we can get rid of prejudice because of race, creed, and gender. These things sound good, but Affirmative Action does not lower prejudice, and does not give more opportunities to low income
