Assisted Reproductive Technology, ART, is the process to treat infertility. Infertility is when someone is failing to become pregnant after one year of trying or are just not fertile enough to conceive and get pregnant. Assisted Reproductive Technology is also known as In vitro fertilisation, which In vitro fertilisation is a process of fertilisation where an egg is combined with sperm outside the body, in vitro. The eggs are removed from the female's body and then the eggs are mixed with sperm to make embryos that are then put back into the female's body. Nowadays, people are using more technological ways to conceive and become more fertile based on the resources they have now. During Assisted Reproductive Technology use, you have to take a lot medications, more than what you would have to take during a normal pregnancy. However, even though you will be taking a lot more medications, you will have a higher chance of giving birth to a healthy baby based on how fertile you do get during the process of Assisted Reproductive Technology. One issue that comes with a lot more medications is that medicine is very expensive.
Cost is another massive conflict with the use of Assisted Reproductive Technology. An article from “The Hastings Center”, stated that “The average cost of an IVF cycle in the United States is $12,400. However, it can often take multiple cycles for a couple to achieve pregnancy and birth”. By that statement, the use of Assisted Reproductive Technology is very expensive and there is a high chance that the process won't even be successful the first time around. Many people have to go through this process a few times for it to even be successful. Even though you will be going through a long and expensive process, it would potentially be worth it if you are failing at getting pregnant and are wanting to have a kid very badly and you have the time and money to spend on the Assisted Reproductive Technology
