Pros And Cons Of Being A Good Guard Captain

I want to be a leader because I want anyone in guard and band to be able to come to me when they need help or have a problem. I want them to have someone to be able to come to that they feel comfortable with and trust. I also want to help out anyone, especially in the guard, I have been in guard since eighth grade and I think I learned a few tips and tricks to make life easier. Looking at past captains I have learned a lot about what to do and what not to do. I think those experiences are really going to help me become a better captain. Some of my strong attributes are, I put others before myself which I think is a good quality to have. Nobody wants a captain that is selfish and puts themselves above everyone. Meaning I can get sensitive to the fact of people's rather harsh comments. I try my best to brush that off but everyone once in a while it gets to me. Other than that I always give my full 110%. I feel I am a good candidate for guard captain because I want to help everyone, going back to the 4 respect categories. “Members respecting Members”, if someone is giving me their full attention and respect I am more likely to help them have the best outcome with something they need help on. Someone who is not being respectful and not attentive to things I say may result in not remembering something they needed to do or a correction they may have been given multiple times. I know I will help anyone no matter what if it is a new member needing help or even a returning member who just forgot a few things. My biggest vision for marching band this season is to make sure that everyone is having the best time possible. High school can be really hard and stressful for people, I hope that everyone can have the right environment to feel comfortable. Marching band is like a big family that you can be yourself around. Marching band is welcoming to anyone and everyone and thats the best part. We want to bring each other up instead of making things harder for everyone else. We need to create a supportive environment for everyone because it is the most important part of having a respectable and fun
