Living in America, there are often times when it is hard to distinguish what is truly American. There are so many different cultures that our country is exposed to, that it is as if America is not a country of its own. However, that is one of America’s greatest qualities. There are several men and women that came together during the first years of our nation, who tried desperately to ensure that people of all races, cultures and backgrounds, can have the best possible life in our country. Our country has flaws, we are not perfect, but we strive to be. No matter what our country has gone through, eventually, someone always stands up and brings us together. Whether it is hurricanes, tornadoes, or earthquakes, our country has lived through them all. We always have a way of getting closer and stronger when disaster hits. People travel hallway across the country just to help their neighbors in times of crisis. There are shelters provided, food banks, clothing donations, and the whole nine yards. American citizens go out of their way to support the people around them, even when they are complete strangers. Not many countries get involved in heling those other than themselves. America however, sends countless missionaries, Red Cross workers, and Peace Corps volunteers all over the world to help people who have suffered from natural disasters. Even if they cannot go in person, many Americans send food, provisions, clothing, and money to many less fortunate countries. Despite many beliefs that Americans are selfish, ignorant, and blind to what goes on in the rest of the world, truly the majority of Americans are good people who are able to work together to help the lives of others when disaster
