They should be given money each month to help them along. We should make sure they have a place to live, clothes to
Ever since July 4, 1776, the United States has been the land of the free, home of the brave, and anyone who was in the United States had the same constitutional rights young, old, good, and bad. That fact was true until January, 2002 when Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility (GITMO) was opened. GITMO is a detention facility that was approved by congress after the terrorist attacks of 9/11 so that the terrorists can be detained, tried, and punished. GITMO is located on a naval base in Cuba it is located in Cuba so that the terrorists do not touch American soil. This sounds like a great idea of paper, trying terrorists for the horrible attacks that they have committed against innocent people, and being able to detain the convicted in Cuba away
After reading the story The Martian by Andy Weir, I believe that humans should not colonize Mars for many reasons. First, I do not think we should leave this beautiful planet. Though the population is growing rapidly, there is still lots of land available that is uninhabited. Also, I am certain that the cost of traveling to Mars is way too expensive for the average human being on our planet.
Exhibition park has it’s pros and cons but it needs some changes to it. First of all the park has many courts and fields to play on as well as a playground for little kids, but it needs a basketball court because basketball is a popular sport like baseball and football. Adding a soccer field is also a good choice. The park needs more benches for people to sit, read, do work and many more. The playground needs more things added to it so more kids would start to play there.
Are you thinking whether you should go to Mars or not? You shouldn’t need to think, the answer is no. Have you already thought through the problems of going to Mars? Have you thought of high risk traveling, radiation poisoning, unknown situations, and surviving problems? If not, you might want to read the next few paragraphs and give a thought about it.
Exploring space can be beneficial, but it may come at a cost. In the book All Summer in a Day by Ray Bradbury and in the Life on Mars videos on the New York Times website it shows us what life would be like if we colonized other planets. In All Summer in a Day Ray Bradbury tells us about Margot who has been on Venus most of her life. In the Life of Mars videos, it shows us a real-life simulation of life on Mars in Hawaii. Colonizing other planets can be bad and cause depression for most people.
The bigger issue is that it could be prevented. There is enough food on earth to feed almost everyone, but many people lack the resources to get it through no fault of their own. The people with more should help those who are unable to get the resources they need to survive. Peter Singer uses the analogy of not helping a child drowning in a pond to not donating to help the poor. While I don’t love this analogy it helps illustrate the point that just because we take inaction does
Of course, there will be problems with the manned mission, however there are solutions for them. Traveling to Mars would be beneficial to humans, so we should follow through with a human-crewed Mars-mission. Firstly, Mars has an atmosphere nearly equivilent to Earth's, so Mars' air is good enough for humans to breathe. Earth is experiencing mass amounts of pollution and oil spills to its land and water, which is unhealthy for human living conditions, so Mars is our go-to planet for humans in case pollution goes too far. Mars is an icey, cold planet; on the other hand, using the materials from Earth and Mars, we could make technology to better the conditions to suit humans in some areas of the planet.
Pros or cons? I believe that outweighs the pros because there is more danger we are being put in by having all this new technology and not knowing how to use it then there are pros. NASA Earth Observatory states that anyone can get pictures from satellites, people think they know everything going on, and conversation issues. Firstly, I believe that the cons outweigh the pros in the sense that anyone can get satellite images online.
Five percent of taxpayers’ dollars goes to corrections, adding up to about 80 billion dollars a year spent on incarceration in the United States. So much money will be saved just by sending away the burdens of American society. Some people might argue that sending criminals to Antarctica is too inhumane, but Americans clearly care more about money than other people, especially felons, so sending the criminals away is obviously the right choice to make for the good of all Americans. It can also be argued that if the criminals are sent away their families will be unable to visit them, but what people fail to see is that this instead offers a vacation opportunity for families, which can be paid in part by the money saved in this process. Overall this economic opportunity would just be too good to pass up, even if the people involved were in unjust
Abstract Majority of new professional sport stadiums and arenas are funded through taxpayers’ dollars today. Economic analysts see this as an issue to the general public because of the lack of benefits that are involved. The history of this topic will be presented and discussed along with the financial breakdown of the total costs. It will be noted on how professional sports stadiums were built from private funding. This could be a reason to why concerns have been brought up to the public’s attention and the opportunity to lower the percentage that taxpayers have to pay.
Under the Obama Administration, while Guantanamo never was closed, major advances in the President’s agenda to strengthen America’s values of unalienable rights within Guantanamo were made. One of these advances was the transferring of innocent detainees to their home country, such as the release of five detainees back to their home country of Kazakhstan in December of 2014 (The Guantanamo Docket). Another push was for detainee rights - a new idea in the War on Terrorism - as public safety had previously taken full attention. Obama came out of the election with fresh actions to make his vision happen, which can be shown in a New York Times article on Obama’s actions over Guantanamo, “Mr. Obama’s opening gambits as president were bold declarations of new directions, from announcing the closing of the detention center at
Humankind has always dreamed of a happy, prosperous life and tried to find stable bases of social relations as well as tried to agree on rules of coexistence. Evidence of this can be found in the most ancient sources. One of the first descriptions of fair social life are in the famous works of ancient Greece thinkers (Hamedi Dashti 2014). In the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the question of the optimal social structure was embodied in various social projects.
There is no doubt that reaching to Mars will facilitate several changes in the current human society. Going to the Red planet has been a huge dream of humanity for several decades.
These are all things that people in refugee camps around the world could only dream of. Unfortunately we cannot help all of the refugees in the world, but if we can help just a few it will make a difference. We can help out by providing funds to organisations like the UN and also by raising awareness for the refugees. We can also educate our children about the conditions that the refugees have to live in and how they can raise awareness and support for the cause. These are all viable ways to raise awareness for the refugees, but that does not guarantee that they will be helped.
