De-extinction is an interesting thing. Although it may seem cool, it can be very dangerous. These animals scientists bring back could have diseases which could be fatal to our community now. While de-extinction may seem dangerous, there are also some positives to this. Bringing back extinct animals can also bring back extinct wildlife. Bringing back old wildlife and animals seem like a good idea, but there is also many dangers. Scientists do not know what the earth was like millions of years ago. The animals that are possibly brought back may have viruses on their body our community can not handle. As the narrator states, ¨Extinct animal predators like the saber-toothed tiger are dangerous enough, but what if the tigers or other animals …show more content…
The harm to humanity cannot be calculated¨ (Counterpoint para 9). In this quote it explains that the animals researchers could bring back can be dangerous and possibly bring viruses that can destroy our population. If scientist bring back animals, it could also be dangerous for them. The animals could have a hard time adapting to the changes made from before they were extinct which could have been millions of years ago. This is threatening because ¨These creatures would be less capable of adapting to new challenges and so they would be susceptible to all sorts of threats¨ (Counterpoint para 10). The writer explains the have not experienced the world now which is a lot different then what it is over a million years ago. While de-extinction may be perilous, another reason is because of money. The process of de-extinction is very pricey. It could instead be used for something with a better possible outcome. Instead of trying to bring extinct animals back researchers could try to prevent extinction of other animals. De-extinction does not always have a positive outcome. scientists do not know if the animals will survive to live but, if everyone can prevent extinction of other animals there is a better chance
