Francesco Tricomi Ap-Biology Cloning of extinct animals This research paper will explain the process of cloning extinct animals, the benefits this technology could potentially give to society, and overall list the undisputable pros and cons of this work. The cloning of extinct animals is a complicated process but one of the more simple methods is done by first mapping the genome of the specific creature. The scientist must then insert the genome into a creature who is likely to accept the implant. Once the genome has been inserted the scientist should begin artificially inseminating the chosen surrogate, time must then be allowed for the germ cells to populate the embryo in greater numbers than the non-modified germ cells. Allow the surrogate creature to go through the normal process before birth and offer as much support as possible as the birth is likely to be complicated. Once the specimen has been birthed it is likely to resemble the surrogate, but it will still have the extinct animal’s traits recessively. Once those steps have been repeated and the scientist has two creatures that bear recessive traits of the extinct creature then you must begin to bread those two off spring until you produce a recessive dominant creature. …show more content…

When the world reaches its capacity and food is becoming scarce this technology could be the salvation of mankind. If research is started now to look back in time to find the optimal creature that needs the least amount of input (food, water, and space) and still is a valuable source of protein and all essentials to the human body that is needed from nourishment. In times of famine the human race could mass clone and then allow the mass reproduction of that said species to avoid a potential loss of lives, which in return could buffer or help end world hunger depending on the speed of the
