Since we all know that effective community policing involves trust and good relations within the community to prevent and combat crime why not have counter terrorism tactics training as a bonus for the Police. Why not right? Law Enforcement already have relationships among many communities such as Muslim communities in New York for example. The thought of having an extra task force within the department can be crucial and can be needed to prevent massive casualties such as 9/11 including an extra eye on what to look out for that involves preventing terrorism. Given the Pros of the situation, most police officers already have post military experience and skill assets such as weaponry, foreign language, hostage negotiator, undercover skills and so forth which are all prime examples of an already strong foundation that can become increasingly durable with additional …show more content…
For things to work out many agencies must disregard the prejudices of all Muslims being associated with 9/11. I affirmably believe that people will misconstrue involving local police into the matter can look to appear as an extension to further discriminate against the Muslim communities. That’s not a look the police need because they already got a bad reputation of being untrustworthy in most communities. Should the police receive the extra training as a precaution? Yes. Should it be their job to make a habit of executing that training? No, unless really deemed necessary.
