The legal age of driving should be raised. To start off, there are teen that can’t mentally and physically drive. Distracting objects such as cell phones, friends in the same vehicle, radio, and anything they can think of are all deadly when driving a 4,000 pound vehicle. Teens are most likely going to be involved in drugs and alcohol. All in all, the legal driving age should be raised for numerous reasons.
In this argument, I want to explain the reasons of why we should lower the age of driving and give the next generation more experience and space to develop the skills necessary to drive. I will be talking about why this should happen, how this will positively affect our lives, and a possible solution to this ongoing endeavor to lower the ages of driving.
The driving age in Victoria for a provisional driver to obtain their provisional license should be lowered from 18 to 17. Every other state in Australia already has the age to get their P’s at 17 and in the northern territory it is at 16 and 9 months so why should Victorians be the ones that have to wait an extra year when every other state and territory has proved that it is safe and does not mean more accidents, countries such as the United States who have the age 17 have shown that the law is fine and safe and by lowering the age the it is bound to reduce drink driving accidents as teens are now exposed to one earlier than the other allowing them to get over that novelty stage of wanting to do both, thus creating less accidents.
