Do not get me wrong they are very talented fighters and are well deserving of their pay, but I feel the UFC is unfair in their pay and treatment of fighters. These bonuses are given to fighters that draw more attention to the sport, or during their fight more people turned on the television to watch them. MMA community members think this will also secure their jobs because most organizations drop athletes that lose their fights, or are unpopular and do not attract attention to the organization (Mayeda). The second problem in the sport is performance enhancing drugs (PEDs). Like any sport that struggles with steroids, MMA is no different. Athletes are always looking for an edge on the competition, a way to recover faster, or to get more from their training sessions. Sometimes athletes take PEDs for this specific purpose or they supposedly accidently took them. This is possible however because if you take a look at the back of a supplement from a shop there are too many ingredients to personally know. The UFC is combating this; however, they have hired USADA the United States Anti-Doping Agency.
