Multitasking, some say it’s good others say it’s bad. Some say it’s good because you can get more work done in a shorter time other say that the quality of that work is severely decreased. While it’s true that the quality of the can be at risk but as long as multi task correctly your time management and even the quality of work can actually improve.

Multitasking is a careful balance. When multitasking you need to work on tasks that use different parts of your brain. For example a study conducted at the University of Florida, participants take a test. The first was while sitting in a chair, and the second time was while on an exercise bike, “The results surprised even the researchers” (Source #4) They found that the participants not only didn’t do any worse on the test they also pedaled 25% faster. This is a great example of correctly multitasking. The trick is to find tasks that don’t conflict with each other such as pedaling and taking a test. This is displayed in a recent study conducted where Investigators followed students and documented their study habits and routines. They found that many students who had their tv, computer, or phone out while they studied had a harder time retaining the knowledge they had studied: “Their learning is far spottier and shallow than if the work had their full attention.” (Source #2) but what they fail to see is that we have a word for that. Distraction. There is a careful balance between multitasking and distraction. If you work on two task that conflict with each other you will probably have a much harder time, but if you can find the right balance and equal distribute your time you can complete your tasks with
