For years, the question of which is the more effective education option, technical colleges or universities, has been a never-ending discussion piece. From flexibility and cost to education quality and pathway opportunities, each has its fair share of pros and cons. Although universities offer a wide range of activities and educational pathways, technical colleges provide students with hands-on learning experiences that will not only allow students to absorb the material efficiently, but also provide them with the tools they need to transition effectively into the workforce. Since the beginning of time, education has played a vital role in societal development. Starting with the native Americans teaching the ways of their ancestors through word-of-mouth and working with the land, transitioning to modern day textbooks and interweb access. As a society, the skills of hands-on learning experience coupled with that of online text and lessons, created a recipe for success in the form of technical colleges. Technical colleges provide night and online classes that allow students of all backgrounds and situations to complete their education in their own time. Although some universities offer night and online classes, the class selection is limited and does not always accommodate some students. For example, a working mother may need to take all her classes online due to her juggling a job and her family. Having a program that she can complete online will allow her to complete her classes when she has the time, due to the flexible dates and constant access to assignments.
