Aids of Online Class The dictionary defines education as “the route of learning or gaining knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and habits”. The ways of education include teaching, training, storytelling, discussion, and directed research. In this world, education is a key to success. In the article “Colleges Embrace Older Student, Part-Timers,” Sandra Block says that non-traditional students are struggling to continue their education because students have jobs in order to take care of their family and therefore find it difficult to study and attend classes. This is because assignments, class exercises, quizzes and research are done when convenient. For example, one can work and go to school at the same time. In addition, an online student can log in to the computer at any time for as long as they want. For instance, a student can sit on the computer for 30minutes, then take a break and come back. In addition, there is no travelling time to campus, so online classes can be accessible at any geographical area, thereby saving travel time. For example, Charity is a friend of mine, who always travels to Truman College every Monday to Thursday for a two and half hour class. For Charity to get to school she leaves at 7:00 a.m. and takes a ride one and half-hours to school, so she sometimes gets home late. Similarly, according to Sandra Block, Colleen O’Neill Conlan a non-traditional student who lives in Maire, has to “travel to Augusta every Monday for a three-hour class. To get there, she leaves at 6:30am to take the 80-minute ferry ride to Rockland, then drives an hour to Augusta” (para. 8). The student sometimes spends the night at a bed and breakfast there and returns to the island on Tuesdays. She wastes more hours before getting to school and her coming back home.
