The Affordable Care Act (ACA), more commonly known as Obama Care, was put into action in the year 2010. The ACA is a list of health related provisions that are suppose to be beneficial to all Americans, especially those in need of health care. Some changes between health care before and after the ACA was put in place include; a health care program that now involves almost all citizens of the United States, a system that reduces payments by increasing the number of health care providers, and providing help to Consumer Operated and Oriented Plans (Cooper, Gardner, 54). The main aspects and the improvements that the Affordable Care Act have made on America’s health insurance are great for some citizens. The way that these people would be rewarded is a reimbursement to health care providers. The increasing in transparency allows people looking for a health care system to compare prices, deductibles, and scores. The Affordable Care Act puts the Department of Health SErvices (HHS) in charge of creating a rating for health care systems based off of their data of price, and quality (Custer,41). This allows for the ACA’s transparency to be accurate and dependable for the users looking for a health care system. These health plan statistics can be found at HealthCare.gov. The main effect of the Affordable Care Act is that it extended coverage to a large sum of uninsured Americans. Within the last five years there has been an increase in health care expenses. However, these expenses have been rising at one of history’s lowest paces (Custer,37).
