I stood seven steps from the start line, hands sweaty and lips trembling. It seemed as if at any moment I would break the position of attention: feet at a forty-five degree angle, knees slightly bent, chin just above the horizon, and shoulders up, back, and down. Though I always dreamed of representing the Benicia High School Panther Band as their drum major, the lone figure in front of the block of blue and gold wearing a white British uniform and a brown bearskin hat, it never occurred to me that I was finally there. There was no way I could not be nervous; it was the last marching practice before my first competition in my career. Nevertheless, there was no escape.

One of the best feeling that i get comes from my favorite place. It’s the batter's box i love the feeling that comes along with being their. Your team cheering for you or you smacking a ball. You learn and have an amazing time in the box it might not always go your way but that is the learning part of it.
One aspect of being section leader that I feel that has been lacking in the past that I would try to bring into my leadership is reaching out to people regarding their marching. If I notice something that could be improved about someone’s marching, whether it be pushing their shoulders a little bit more, moving earlier to hit a visual move on beat 1, or any other detail to improve their visuals, I will make a point to check in with them and provide some thoughts on how to refine their abilities. During the few rehearsals in the 2016 season that I spent running the Dr. Beat, there were many instances where I noticed how could offer help to both veteran and new marchers when their visuals were not sharp enough. In addition to this, I plan to also introduce more comprehensive resources to use during the summer to be more prepared for band camp. I created a website for the winds of the marching band which has resources such as metronome and tuner apps for both Android and iOS, a metronome website, a Google Drive folder with sheet music and drill of the show, and other resources that could be used to better prepare yourself for the upcoming band camp.

The Bonus March is an example of the fact that sometimes good things can come out of bad things. Though the event as a whole was considered unbelievably terrible (what with the Depression itself and then the army attacking its own people), without it, America would not have the educated middle class that it does today. Though, that’s the way most of life itself goes- good can come out of evil, hardship and angst can turn into joy with some thinking and perseverance. However, one thing is certain: respect is always necessary. When Congress voted down the bill to give the veterans their money, it was an understandable decision.
At practice, I tend to go through the motions. When I miss the ball at practice, I feel as if it 's not important because it 's not a game. This year, I 'm going to try to have the same mentality. My coaches always tell me practice like you’re in a game, that way it comes natural. One of my other weaknesses is being lazy.

By comparison in the American Civil War, the Union had an advantage of 2.5:1 over the Confederacy. Though this sounds like a great advantage, it was not so great in reality. The British had to maintain many troops overseas in America to hold territory, and the American populous had a much higher rate of citizens willing to fight for their Country. The debate over whether the Americans really had any chance to win the War, or whether it was just by pure luck and mistakes by the British has gone on for centuries.
As high school marching bands grow larger, they typically trade in their military marching style for the less technical core style of marching. As a result, schools are throwing away the military tradition that has been continued throughout time and they lose the formality and precision only a military style band can achieve. Three major differences between a military marching band and a core marching band include the music they play, how they march, and the impact they have on their community. The music a band plays can influence how well their overall performance goes and how the audience feels the band did during that performance.
Have you ever had a passion for something that you love so much that you keep on doing it no matter what time of the season it is? For me that was going to club wrestling at Coe College to practice for two months. My Dad, and my wrestling coach Jeff Voss suggested that it would be a good idea to go to these practices. I didn 't want to at first, but then I thought that if I do the practices I will get better. Also I didn’t want to do track.

I was offered a position on the Academic counsel that I might have said no to if I was too fixated on band. The failure had allowed me to learn to be not so fixated on one
I worked with young children in the resource room with the staff that included teachers, special needs assistants and an occupational therapist, who routinely visits the school. I found the experience immensely rewarding to see the progress the children made in such a short space of time. I was able to see and discuss the different exercises that the occupational therapist used with the children in order for them to make progress. This gave me a great insight into the work environment and daily tasks of an occupational therapist and it made me realise that I had the personality traits and abilities that suited this career
