As a culturally pluralistic and contemporary society, there are multifarious religious traditions and ethnicities located around the world. For many adherents, a religious faith can elucidate fundamental and constitutive moral and ethical guidelines and frameworks, (). Subsequently, these guidelines postulate informative criteria for the adherent when making judgments about convoluted and challenging ethical issues. Ethical frameworks are often derived from interpreting religious sacred texts, practices and philosophical beliefs, (). Moral philosophy is defined as a “branch of philosophy that involves systematising, defending, and recommending concepts of right and wrong conduct”, (). There are three foremost areas of philosophical moralities; meta-ethics, understanding the theoretical meaning and moral propositions, statements, attitudes and judgments; normative ethics, the reasonableness of a moral course of action; and applied ethics, treatment of specific moral issues, practices, and policies in personal life, (). Even if the action is forbidden, it may be undertaken if the alternative would cause harm, (). The Shari’aa is flexible enough to adapt to emerging situations in different times and places. It can accommodate different honest opinions as long as they do not conflict with the spirit of its primary sources and are directed to the benefit of humanity, (). As previously discussed, the primary sources of Shari’aa- the Qur’an and Sunnah- do not explicitly discuss abortion, but they do point to the absolute importance of the promotion and preservation of human life. As a result, secondary sources of Shari’aa are used in formulating the teaching of the ethical issue of
