The word abortion is defined in Merriam-Webster dictionary as the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus; however, to pro-life believers define it as murder, but it is a brighter side for pro-choice believers. Abortion has been a controversial topic for numerous years, and currently is an issue in today’s society. This topic so controversial it has even argued in presidential debates. This topic has been argued since 1973 when it was legalized. Although people who believe in pro-life may argue that abortion is considered murder, people believing in pro-choice see the brighter side when abortion is kept legal.
People believing in pro-life believe that nobody ahs the right to kill another person. On the other hand, pro-choice believe it is the woman’s choice whether or not she wants to keep the child she is impregnated with. In addition, …show more content…

But what if one does not believe in a religion or is simply not as religious as others may be? Religion is an interpretation of a higher power. For instance, if someone is part of the Christian religion some may use on the commandments that says “ Thy shall not kill” as a reason for woman to not go through with an abortion. However, not everyone is religious, nor do all people interpret biblical or religious scriptures the same way. “Humans, by the grace of God, have developed medicine, surgery, and psychiatry to prolong and enhance life. These same medical approaches can be chosen to prolong or enhance the life of a woman for whom a specific pregnancy would be dangerous”. Based upon the quotation, the religion also has its exceptions. The quote states that if being placed in a dangerous situation in which a woman needs to have an abortion, it is not wrong.
