As a psychology major, I have learned that we simply do not pick our majors or interests, they pick us. I have learned that we are the physical delivery, and through research we find the program that aligns with us. Thus, the baby psychologist within us is born, and through research we seek to understand our first patient, ourselves. I grew up wanting to understand the different styles of behavior, why only certain children were accepted into popular groups, and why others were not. Simple questions of status among people lead me from one behavior to the next, but it was the criminal behavior that caught my attention, and kept me for a lifetime.

Though my interests aligned me to the Forensic Psychology program, I desired to be part of the elite. I simply did not want a degree that solely stated I completed my Master's; I wanted a degree that stood out from the rest. I sought out an education that would train, inspire, and challenge me, and I believe that I can receive this sophisticated education here at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. More importantly; I wanted to belong to a school that included all types of individuals, not just one specific type of person. I grew up in an impoverished community, and I then transformed my situation through understanding that life is what we create, and those around us get to embellish in the outcome of the product, good or bad. In my personal endeavor, I have created and changed lives with my self-owned project called, "Loving Before Love: The Art of Self-Love", which encourages positive growth from all walks of life, no matter where you may have been. The path to success is never a straight one, and while we are certain that there will be bumps in the road, the path can, and does get better.
