Prior to entering a public health program, my initial goal was to study psychology in order to understand human
I remain positive and energetic because I always look forward to challenges in life. As ex professional athlete, I always set realistic targets and time scale for myself and others I teach. This method ensures that you concentrate on your targets and remain focused on tasks ahead step by step. I have a different way of training and teaching. I focus on psychology using mind over matter as I believe every person can do any given task.
It was under the most delicate of circumstances, when I realized what I was born to do for the rest of my life. It was march 2007, my grandfather was suffering from pneumonia and due to his deteriorating condition he was hospitalized. I had flown in from Toronto to be by his side. Sitting anxiously by his bedside with tears in my eyes wondering if I could do anything to make my grandfather feel better, I watched doctors come and go , updating us on his blood reports, EKGs, chest x-rays, ABGs, and at the same time constantly counseling my concerned family members. As they explained what they were doing to bring my grandfather to the path of recovery, I watched in utter fascination.
I am studying a Psychology degree and this field I have chosen really interests me because I have a passion for helping people. Generally, I am that type of person to put other's happiness and well-being before my own, because it makes me feel like I have a sense of purpose. Also, since I was a little girl I have always been so fascinated with the way people interact, behave, think and feel. I always asked 'why?' and I still do to this very day.
The human services field is where I want to contribute the most during my lifetime. Moreover, I learned a lot about myself, I have some experiences that will contribute to my professional growth and identity and I am certain there will be challenges in my future as a psychologist. Furthermore, this course has further validated my pre-existing values and revealed some of my blind spots.
I've never joined a program related to mental health, so I think this will be an amazing opportunity for me to pursue a career in mental health! I know some basics of psychology as an AP psychology student, but I hope this program will help guide me in the right direction for what specific path I wish to take. I'm also quite interested in your integrated support system, especially the workshops and college access planning! I wish to go to college, but I'm not quite sure where to go or the specifics of what to do- I really do believe this will give me the right opportunities to adjust and find the right college to suit me. I view this as a transition period from childhood to adulthood, and I'm excited to become part of a community of people
I’m a hippie at heart, but all my cloths are black and studded. I’ve decided to seek a BA in psychology (considering going further), but I’ve yet to focus in on where I hope to take it. The ultimate goal, to my eyes, is to heal people. I’de like to specialize in one of these few fields: Addiction therapy, end of life trauma in the elderly, PTSD therapy for veterans, or to work with troubled youth in one way or another. The next few decades will have incredible breakthroughs in treatments, and I’de love to be a part of what’s to come.
In my personal vocational development plan paper, I will be writing about professions in the mental health field, and most importantly which job fits me the most. It is very important to think out the development of what career choice is good for you, and help you have a successful life. I made the decisions based off of my skills and how much education is required, while also looking at my weaknesses to help me find out which jobs are not for me. Over the past few weeks I have been researching the profession of clinical psychology and what they do everyday. I have made several learning objectives and goals to help me further my education and push myself to be the best that I can.
Social work, and more specifically therapy, is a field in which I have high interest and that I believe is incredibly important. Taking psychology classes and further learning about the field increased my interest in social work. Psychology goes into every aspect of a person’s life - relationships, communication, careers, and everywhere else as well. It is the reasoning behind why a person does everything he does. As a concept, I find this fascinating, and want to continue learning about it.
Psychology was not my first declared major when I initially began college, but I knew after taking my first psychology course that I didn’t want to do anything else with my life. Instantaneously, I became obsessed and fascinated by the idea that there is a whole field dedicated to understanding the mind and behavior of human beings. With that being said, my long-term ambition is to become a clinical psychologist. In order to achieve this goal, I will continue pursuing my education and ultimately, I hope to obtain a PhD. Applying to graduate school is a competitive process that requires field or research experience as a prerequisite.
The more I don’t know, the more I know. The more I realize I don’t understand, the more I discover my desire to know more about psychology. My interest in educational psychology was triggered by my first experience in changing schools.
It's not a perfect fit for my personality, I might change my mind or something my happen along the years, but it is something I find extremely important and interesting. Some of the things I will need to become a psychologist I will still need to work on, such as reading more and becoming more involved in people's lives, but I believe that with some effort I can be a good professional one day. Another interest that relates to psychology is reading a lot and being interested in learning new things. This is something I’ve always liked, especially when it comes to subjects I care about. I’m hoping that doing extensive reading and research I can learn more about what a psychologist does exactly, how it helps people and how to be effective doing
Psychology plays a huge role in changing society and how individuals look at life. I believe this career path can make an impact on lives that are struggling daily, such as I did. With a psychologist 's help, I was able to cope with the negative aspects in my day, and be optimistic towards life, along with providing advice for others who may also be struggling. My ambition is to perform life defining acts with my words and advice, and as a psychologist, I believe this is possible through my ability to listen and be empathetic towards others. James Frey once stated, “A miracle is changing someone’s life.
Plans and Goals for Future in Psychology: Psychology Paper Introduction After recently changing my major to Psychology I have created different goals that I wish to accomplish with this major. Learning more about the psychology major has allowed me to create a strategy to follow to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and to have a successful career in psychology. My goals vary from graduating college with honors to having in the future my own private practice.
Besides viewing this process as a foundation for future knowledge and abilities, I have been anticipating this stage of gaining deeper and professional knowledge in psychology for a long time. To summarize, this goal is elicited from my passion and enthusiasm for psychology, to remain focused throughout these three years, instead of gaining fame or impress others. After graduation, I want to engage in a job related to psychology, allowing me to serve others by applying the knowledge learnt. It may not need to be anything very great; I just hope to contribute to the society’s wellbeing, whether it is in the clinical setting, corporate world or any other aspects. Most importantly, I hope to raise awareness and acceptance towards mental disorders.
