What is an abortion? An abortion is the removal of the fetus from the uterus. Abortion is one of the two options given, including adoption, when a woman is pregnant. Women will decide to have an abortion due to various reasons such as not being prepared for motherhood, rape, poor income, or potential health risks. Pro-life are individuals who believe that abortion should not be an option for unwanted pregnancy. As though, Pro- choice are individuals who are in favor of abortion from unwanted pregnancy. Between the years of 1880 and 1973, over 1,000 women were harmed due to illegal abortion. Many women succumbed or faced medical complications after trying self- induced abortions or allowing untrained practitioners operate with unsanitary tools. As an example, Medical practitioners would advise women to have a “cooling off” period before they can go on with the procedure due to the side effects of the abortion, including their mental health. The design of news articles bring attention to the audience. The title of the news article is a headline, being that it is bigger and bolder than the article itself. News articles may include images and the use of color to direct attention to the context. “Three Legal Reasons Why Abortion Should be Banned” was the only news article sample that included an image with color. News articles is most effective to present why abortions should be illegal because in the news, the purpose is to inform the audience about different events, stating facts, and supporting details with evidence.
