The objective of this study is to explore toxic leadership in Orange County nonprofit organizations. Also, to what extent and how toxic leadership practices effectively impact turnover intention and organization citizenship behavior among employees in nonprofits. Thus, this chapter will discuss the qualitative method research design that will be utilized to address the objectives and questions of this study. There are several factors that must be included in the selection of a methodology, such as the setting for the research, the goals of the study, and the nature of the subject matter. Each of these factors will be examined specifically. Creswell (2009) asserts that qualitative design is a way to explore the meaning ascribed to social or human problems and when problems are not well understood and requires exploration. The qualitative research gives the researcher more options when selecting a research design as far as strategies and worldviews. One key factor in the grounded theory that the term grounded means the theory is embedded in data that have been systematically obtained through research. Allan (2003) emphasize that grounded theory is a powerful research method for collecting and analyzing data. Also, the data collected through interviews are more reliable than the data gathered by questions in a survey (Allan, 2003). That is because in a face-to-face situation the researcher can find out whether the interviewee is the appropriate person to answer the questions or not. In addition, having the ability to discuss issues in details is an advantage, as well as obtaining clarifications on certain points, and the ability to initiate the process for data analysis as early as the end of the first interview.
