Not to forget that his personality and popularity is one of the most effective factors. Maximum popularity, maximizes his success, especially when he needs to overcome the congress’ barrier. Nowadays, in modern era, this popularity and prestige not only clears his way to succeed internally, also has greater effect on ally nations in unanimity and compromise. There are some argument about validity of these characteristics in earlier era. Back in the nineteens and eighteens century, presidents had to have these characteristics to be able to persuade their agenda.
The power of persuasion is one of the most important characteristics to obtain, the president must be able to bargain with others who share power with him/her. This isn’t done with a withy or charming personality, the president must persuade by showing other politicians how can his interests can benefit theirs. Secondly, professional reputation is a factor that show how much people can believe in you. The president’s goal is make sure people in Congress, or his administration have secure confidence in him/her. Confidence in someone makes the person more trustworthy and received respect.
From a broad perspective, the Republican Party nominee for President in 1868 was Ulysses S. Grant. Evidence from the text that further bolsters this claim is shown when the authors state, “Wrangling between Congress and President Andrew Johnson had soured the people on professional politicians in the Reconstruction era, and the notion still prevailed that a good general would make a good president. Stubbily bearded General Grant was by far the most popular Northern hero to emerge from the war” (Cohen & Kennedy 488). The quote above sheds light upon how the Republican Party embraced the notion, pertaining to how victorious military leaders translate into effective presidents. It can thus be deduced that General Grant, who, in turn, proved his
I think the hardest part of being the first president would be to have the ability to be a good example and try to be impersonal. The president would have to be impersonal because if Washington only did things that benefited him or his fellow wealthy farmers then he would be seen as greedy. The president should be seen as someone understands that “the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few” to quote James T. Kirk from Star Trek, which shows the perfect example of a great president. By being a good example, Washington shows what a good outline of a president is, instead of becoming like the British is being too overpowered; he would work with his fellow branches of government and come to an agreement on all decisions that would affect the future of the country. If the president did his best to present new laws and rules that would help the country grow and improve, instead of just helping the wealthy.
The Constitution only requires three qualifications in order for Presidency. The President must be a legally born citizen to the United States, he must have lived in the United States for at least 14 years, and he must be at least 35 years of age. Currently, in the Electoral College there are 538 electors. The Vice Presidents main job is to be ready to take up Presidency for any reason at any time. This could be due to anything, temporary incapacitation, resignation, or death of a President.
As citizens we tend to elect our leaders, especially the president, based on promises, reputation, and life decisions. When voting for the next president of the Unites States we are simply voting for the person whose character we like best. Their promises and platforms reveal what they believe in and their statements and arguments reveal what they truly stand for. For the citizens of the Unites States character is a extremely important factor in determining who they vote for because character reveals the personality and beliefs of the president. However we must acknowledge that Presidents are also human and they make personal decision due to what they see best for them and not the rest of the country.
After seeing President Obama 's in office for eight years I have watched and come up with four main things all good presidents should have. First is their political skill and ability. Campaigns often show a brief glimpse on what the candidates main focuses are on. You want a candidate with good knowledge and experience in the field. You also want someone who has seen past mistakes and
Above all, it is critical to have a president with vast knowledge and understanding of how the United States operates at its best in order to ensure the citizens stay safe, and happy.
However, the most important thing is that there are several things that each of the presidents have in their attitude and personality while from their studies that are being more and more developed at some features
George Washington, arguably the most iconic president in world history, was a exemplary leader of a country during its infancy. The United States of America can thank George Washington for its formation into a global superpower in economy, democracy, and justice. Moreover, Washington was an incredible leader. The way he led with authority, yet maintained peace to avoid leading the country to dictatorship was one of several qualities that made him such a splendid leader. Additionally, our first president led with a great amount of humbleness.
George Washington displayed all qualities that made him a leader. Although he was truly a great leader it was never something that he inspired to be. Washington’s trustworthiness and reputation in the military also helped with the development of his leadership. His leadership and legacy can be measured by what happened afterwards. Creating a political system that is still used today, proves that what Washington did helped change America.
The second major determinant of presidential success would be international relations and how well said president is able to keep good ties and agreements with different countries and minimizing direct conflict and increasing cooperation. This is a proper measure for ranking presidents and success within a presidency by showing how the president handles international conflicts and issues and whether or not he is capable of solving said issues. This aspect helps us build agreements and unions internationally. Not only does it help us create these international bonds but it also helps boost our values and common interests globally. When we have positive international relations it also encourages cooperation between nations and lower conflict as a whole.
Being a good leader does not necessarily mean shining in the spotlight. Some of the most revolutionary and successful leaders are the ones who worked the lights. Self-awareness, self-direction, vision, ability to motivate, and social awareness are the characteristics of a good leader according to SIY Leadership Institute (SIYLI). There have been many accomplished and renowned leaders in America since (and before) the 1770’s, ones whose names are universally known and others who are unfamiliar. Of the latter is Alexander Hamilton, who showed potential since the minute he was put on earth, for no matter what obstacles were thrown in his way he forged ahead and never threw away his shot.
Immigration is not a new concept; on the contrary, it’s what established this country. The founding fathers were immigrants themselves, or they were descended from them. Instead of defending our borders from people just like our founders, we should be open and welcoming to them because “It would be a tragedy if America were to turn toward a false sense of security just when… the real solution is so obvious from our own American heritage” (Johnson and Kane). Firstly, immigrants are not a threat to our borders, so refusing to let them enter doesn’t advantage us in any way and would only, as Johnson and Kane said, give us a false sense of security. With that in consideration, the logical and humanly thing to do is to honor our rich history by
Problems The President should prevent all the bad things and try to make this country a better place to live so that people can feel safe. The new President should provide a home to every poor person and food for them to eat. The President shouldn't let there be poor or rich people they should be equal. The President should always give out a warning for anything bad that would happen so people can get ready and do what he can do to prevent that to happen. The President should show us that we feel safe knowing that he/she is President.
