In the 1500s, England experienced a number of different rulers. Queen ELizabeth I was one ruler that rose above the rest. She reigned England from 1558 to 1603. The queen was involved in a number of wars, and she was involved in her community. She cared for her people, and she succeeded for them. Queen Elizabeth I was a successful ruler, and she was heavily involved in her role as a leader and in wars. Queen Elizabeth I had a very interesting history. Elizabeth was born in the Greenwich Palace in September 7th, 1533. Her parents were King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn (“I Wonder”). After the reign of Elizabeth’s sister, Mary, Elizabeth had to take responsibility of her problems she made during her reign (“Queen Elizabeth I Biography”). The country was having problems with France. The problems were later resolved (“Queen Elizabeth I Biography”). One specific war that impacted her reign was the war against Spain. The war lasted from 1585 to 1603 (Alchin). The war began due to wealth and power conflicts (Alchin). Another issue that caused the beginning of the war was faith (Sharnette 1). In 1585, King Philip II, the king of Spain, had begun to prepare a fleet the would invade England. Philip believed he was inclined to take the throne of England. He thought this because he was a descendent of John of Gaunt (Sharnette 1). John of Gaunt was a English nobleman. Another goal of King Philip was to reinstate Catholicism in England. At the time, England has practicing Protestantism (Sharnette 1). Queen Elizabeth I was preparing for the attack. In 1588, the Spanish Armada sent their greatest fleet to attack. Over one-hundred ships sailed from Spain to the English Channel. Queen Elizabeth was so committed to her people she went out to fight in the battle.
