Have you ever had a bad day? Well for Lonnie Motions a bad day seems a bit more often for him. Locomotion is a book of poems written by Jacqueline Woodson. As a young, fifteen year old girl, looking good and getting the attention of boys was her main priority. Football has been my favorite sport since I could run. Running free in the grass with friends and family made me appreciate the the quality of life I was blessed to have. Senior year of high school I went from league champions to below .500 records. Lake Winaukee was where the team would prep and practice for the upcoming season. As a senior, I felt I was obliged to help my team win football games and the place we could create chemistry was Lake Winaukee.

Northwest Football has impacted my life by teaching me many life lessons. It has given me many opportunities in life to succeed. As well as football, it has made me grow as a person. It has taught me that if I wait my time and put in the hard work, it will eventually pay off and I will find success. It has also taught me how to deal with adversity and handle myself in the face of that adversity.

Summer was at full blast, Sunday league was starting and I was playing soccer every single day. I was ready for the next season of high school soccer to come and I was training myself to the limit because I wanted to be one of the best players on the field and to possibly be captain for varsity this year. This year was also the year our new coach, coach Jay was in charge of us because Olivier had left last year to to go to Michigan with his wife. Jay had already seen how well of a player I was because I played in his soccer club and immediately placed me in the varsity roster but as a defender and not a striker. The transition was difficult but I learned fast.

As a little boy I had big dreams of playing football. When I was walking in the halls of the intermediate and middle school and saw the high school football players with their jerseys on, they were like super stars. I looked up to them because I wanted to be like them. The high school football players were popular, they were happy, and they were important to the school. Going to the football games on Friday nights was the highlight of my week.
Soccer had become my go to when I wasn’t feeling good. That’s when my passion for soccer had gotten way stronger. It was all I wanted to do, all I wanted to watch, all I thought about. School had gotten easier, as well as my social life. I found my best friends due to soccer.
When I was a younger kid, I looked up to the high schoolers like they were NFL players. I always dreamed about playing under the lights on friday night. Football now is a whole different story. All of the persistence and hardship of losing has finally payed off. I am now starting on a team that is going for their sixth state-championship in a row.
