In the article “Racial Profiling” by Gale, published April 10, 2018, the author explains that racial profiling is controversial and illegal but also common. They also describe and explain the different types of racism and what racial profiling is. The author says in this article that racial profiling is when “individuals are targeted for suspicion of crime based on their ethnicity, race or religion rather than on evidence-based off of suspicious behavior”(Gale). This means when a person see someone else they automatically have there stereotypes against them based on there racial appearance. As we continue the author explains move on the author continues to state who is guilty of racial profiling and who is the victim of it. “Police officers rely on descriptions-- Including race and ethnicity-- to identify suspects, in combination with other factors”(Gale). This gives an opportunity for officers to be guilty of racial profiling. “ When officers use the color of a person's skin without using other identifying factors, they are guilty of racial profiling”(Gale). Sayings this the author recognizes and portrays the fact that police officers are guilty of racial profiling. Some victims of racial profiling are African Americans, Mexicans, and Muslims. the author also explains how business owners only employ a person by looking at their race or color. The Author also says “The phrase “ driving while black” comes from African Americans complaining that they are pulled over by police officers for no reason other than the color of their skin”(Gale) I think that these issues are some of the biggest and have to be fixed immediately.
