Each painting holds its own importance and displays its own outstanding aspects that make it great regardless of style. In Giotto di Bondone’s painting of The Meeting of Joachim and Anna from the Arena Chapel in Padua, Italy, the technique known as fresco was used. Can the pursuit of a higher degree change your life? If you answered no then maybe you would benefit from reading Andrew Braaksma article “Some Lessons from the Assembly Line.” When this article was produced Braaksma used his work to win a contest named Back to School, while he was a junior at the University of Michigan. Art often reflects the sentiments from the time it was created. As Shakespeare asserted in his play Hamlet, the “purpose of playing” is “to hold as ‘twere the mirror up to nature” conveying the idea that art should reflect our reality (Schloss). This can be applied to all art, including religious art. From the 12th to 17th centuries in Northern Europe, the culture and the style of religious art changed to better reflect the tensions and reality that many were living in. Religious art from the 12th to the 17th century in Northern Europe evolved stylistically due to reformations within the church.
DaVinci used lots of linear perspective in his artwork including The Last Supper. Without the math and geometry he would not have been able to create such realistic and mesmerizing artwork. Golden Ratio is a non square rectangle that have a line drawn within it parallel to the short side that portions it into a square and a smaller rectangle. The Renaissance were exploring and learning everything but the art still focused on their traditional. Another Renaissance art is the Mona Lisa, DaVinci used geometry to make the figure proportionate because it was helped by the triangles to even symmetrical the eyes and mouth together.
