“Hi. Can I get one ticket for Sausage Party?” a 15 year old girl asked the lady at the ticket booth. “Sorry ma’am, you’re not 18.” This happens to many teens who do not know the age requirements of a Rated R movie. Teens over 13 years old should be allowed to watch Rated R movies because they have already been exposed to mature content. Also, many teens already use foul language and parents may not be available to give consent. In many households, teens are already exposed to mature content. Most parents allow their children to watch TV shows and PG 13 movies that use profanity and have sexual content/gestures. If teens are already exposed to this kind of content, why shouldn’t they be allowed to watch a Rated R movie? Rated R movies can contain inappropriate scenes and can cause immature people to call out during the movie. They might even try to act out the fictional behavior. This interrupts the other people and causes them to miss out on important things during the movie, which will make them angry and tell the manager. This could lead to the teens getting kicked out or banned for causing a commotion. In conclusion, teens over 13 years old should be allowed into Rated R movies because a guardian may not be available, teens already use foul language, and most teens have already witnessed violence and mature content .There is no important reason that teens over 13 shouldn’t be allowed to see a Rated R movie if they see the same things in real life. This rule needs to be changed and there should be no age restrictions. If they think they can handle watching the movie on their own, then they should be allowed to see it without someone saying “You’re too
