However, Italy does not permit euthanasia of unwanted roaming animals unless they have incurable conditions or they are proven to be dangerous. The unattended dogs are placed in the shelter permanently (Villa, 2008). The law can protect the healthy or unattended animals from being euthanized. Also, by placing them in a long term shelter, this does not exploit their right of living and this does not against the natural of life. Allowing them to pass away naturally is more ethical than putting them to die. During the stay in the shelter, care is provided to them. Other countries should learn from Italy. This also shows that dogs is protected by the law in Italy and receive the same rights as humans.
