How would you react if a random boy just shows up in your family? Fortunately, Sophie, the main character in the book Red Glass by Laura Resau, comes across that. Sophie is a girl who is caring, worrying and insecure and she's on a journey to help Pablo look for his family.

When Pablo comes into the family, Sophie's caring side pops out. However, It pops out the most when she's in Mexico. While Sophie is in Mexico, she starts to like Angel. Therefore, Sophie starts to care for him. When they all get to Pablo's hometown they stay for a while. During the last week, Angel and his dad go back to their hometown, but they run into some trouble. When Angel and his dad were coming back, Angel had been beaten up by gangsters who robbed him. Sophie gets a call from Mr.Lorenzo saying they need their passports and some money. Sophie was then thinking,"could I bring the documents and money there myself?" (175), Which she did.
