Reflection About My Writing

Final Writing Reflection Writing has always been an enjoyable subject in school for as long as I can remember. However, during my senior year I finally had the opportunity to solely focus on the writing process, and learn about myself as a writer. As the class comes to an end, I now can explain what I have learned about my writing and myself as a writer through my strengths and weaknesses that became apparent throughout the term.
My first piece in this class was titled “Constructive Criticism.” These piece explained my personal experiences through schooling in regard to my writing. For every paper, I did the assigned outlines or brainstorming activities. In other classes they were never required, so I never did them. I now see how beneficial they are to a piece. I knew they helped the writing process, but I was not aware how easy they make the writing process. Instead of blindly typing away, I had an outline I could utilize that already had all my ideas written out. For all of my past papers my rough draft was my final draft. In the beginning of this term I was very eerie of having other peers reading and correcting my work. However, I now see how beneficial it is to both people in the partnership. It is well known that those who are skilled readers are also skilled writers. During the course of this term I have progressively made less grammatical mistakes. This is because by editing other papers and looking for comma splices or run ons I can find them in my paper easier. I have learned through the different methods of peer editing I receive the most feedback while in a group of three. When two people write feedback on awkward phrasing in my paper I know it is something that needs to be rewritten. I feel that self-editing is only beneficial to me up to a certain point. While editing I would notice small mistakes, and awkward phrasing. However, partner and group editing appeal to me the most because I know what I mean through my writing but if that is not being portrayed clearly, my partner would tell me
