Taking the time to look back at my writings from the beginning of the year I realized there were many things I needed to improve on. From little things like grammar and mechanics, to descriptive word choice and organization. Throughout the year I have developed many strengths and held on to some weaknesses. Reflecting back I noticed there are sets of things that need to be addressed. I had many weaknesses this year as a writer. One of my biggest weaknesses I had this year was with mechanical and grammar errors. Throughout all three of my writings I had many mechanical errors with commas, spelling, and grammar. Although I did improve on this, it was only a little bit and problems still remain. To improve on this for the future I need to proofread my writings and fix the mistakes. Another weakness my writings suffered was the lack of varied sentences. Sometimes many of my sentences would start with the same word such as, but, I, and the. This was epically shown in my stand up and say something writing. To improve on this, I need to make my sentences less predictable by rephrasing them and adding more descriptive detail. …show more content…

The first goal I have is fixing mechanical errors. I can do this by making sure I proofread and edit grammar and spelling errors. I also need to familiarize myself with grammar and editing rules. Another thing is sentence structure and variety, I need to discontinue the use of run-on sentences and add varied vocab in my writings. This could of especially helped me with my stand up and say something speech. I would also like to read more. I did read throughout the year but I would like to read more often and read interesting books. I will make more trips to the library and read meaningful and appealing books to me. I will also make a reading list with books that suit me so that I can build vocabulary and improve my writing skills
