When I became a college student, I knew that writing would become more challenging for me. The first semester as a college student I took Writing 001 and the experience was overwhelming. Most of my essays were average and I had many issues with my sentence construction and analysis. Nevertheless, writing became more challenging for me because my paragraphs were continuously wordiness and lack clarity. The most demanding part would have been developing my ideas and making them less vague. At the same time, my verb/subject agreement would always be an issue in my writing, especially when I mixed “have” with “had”. From time to time, I would have a difficult time in differing the two unless I look at my essays closely. But after taking Writing 010 after Writing 001, I have improve my sentence core and claims during my semester in Writing 010. …show more content…
I knew my repetitiveness would contribute to my lack of clarity in my sentences. However, from peer review, I learned that not all students were great writers and they would have to revise and edit the wordiness from their essays. Also, peer review allow me to discover many of my mistakes in my essays. The feedback that I received from my peers were helpful that it made me noticed that I was trying too hard to make my outlines and drafts perfect. At the same time, I learned from the professor about mixed construction. I never knew what that was until she pointed out to me in my essays. Thankfully, I will not make that mistake again and it will help me improve my sentence construction.
