Getting an idea from any other place then your own mind, needs to be cited. We looked over my theology paper and showed me how to cite it correctly. One good tip I got from him was that before you write the sentence you got from somewhere, first add the citation to the work cited and then add the sentence so you do not forget to later on. My problem was being rushed so this tip was extremely helpful to avoid plagiarism. He also practiced plagiarism exercises with me. Where I had to identify what piece of text needed a be cited and text such as known facts did not. This was also helpful as sometimes it is confusing what needs to be cited. After going to the Writing Center, I gained many important tips in order to avoid plagiarism and how to identify what different forms of text needed to be cited. Another problem I had was I did not know that just typing the verses is not citing the bible because there are many different translations of the bible. I learned I had to cite that specific type of bible used.
