In reflecting on the eight tenets we focused on this semester, I feel most confident in my ability to implement relationship-centered care and evidence-based practice as both of these skills come more naturally to me. Throughout nursing school, my compassionate nature and ability to actively listen have enabled me to build relationships with patients. Furthermore, my communication and teamwork skills have enhanced my collaboration with other healthcare professionals. In addition to my strong capacity to build relationships, my passion for learning makes taking a deep dive into pathophysiology fascinating to me. First, I have learned the importance of advocating for both patients and myself, even when it is uncomfortable. Second, seeing how my preceptors approached their clinical assignment taught me the value of prioritizing care. I feel more confident in my ability to decide which patients to see first and when to ask for help. Third, I have a newfound confidence in my training and abilities. Even when I was called upon to perform skills I had limited practice with, I was able to execute them well. In addition to these lessons, there are several resources I will request during my orientation to help me be successful in my first professional nursing position. The first is a mentor who is accessible so I can bring any concerns or questions that I have to someone who will support and encourage me. The second is preceptors who will provide me with constructive feedback which includes praise as well as ways that I can improve. The third is an orientation that gradually promotes my independence. I plan to effectively communicate my learning needs by sharing them with my preceptors before orientation and bringing up any concerns I have with my
