My Evolution During the past trimester, writing has been a crucial skill I have worked hard to improve. I had many types of essays and papers to write during the summer, some very long while others quite short. No matter how long the papers were required to be, I discovered that writing is something to cherish and take pride in as it is something yours that no one else can duplicate. Writing allowed me to put a distinctive mark on the paper, something that I can not do in a math exam. My improvement during the course can be attributed to a variety of factors. The first, and I think most evident, is simple practice. This course pushed me to write a lot more than I normally would in many different styles I do not regularly use. Another way this course helped me improve is through the regular and thoughtful feedback I received from both my peers and my professor. Before starting this journey I had almost never exposed my writing to others, especially not creative or artistic essays. In the beginning I was scared of posting in the discussion board or even of submitting a journal. After receiving an answer from Mariah Dye who said that my narrative essay thesis statement was “very strong” and that I was able to “attract my readers” I felt more confident. The positive feedback gave me more confidence to use colorful language and vivid details in the actual essay. I felt like I was able to sculpt my own sentences and make them appealing to others. After reading the comments I received in my journals I was able to delve deeper into the topics and explore deeper ideas. It was very helpful to expose my thoughts to others, they always have something to
