When conducting this Final Inquiry-Based Writing Assessment, many different ideas came into my mind. I realized how interested I was in the Public Relations Department and noticed how intrigued I was when it came to companies following a crisis. Many different companies do many different things following a crisis and differed in specific ways. Throughout my life I never knew what really interested me tell I came across the Public Relations Department. Public relations is a group of people within a company who communicate with and deal with the public. In other words, its managing communication between an organization and its publics. This made me interested because of how I love to speak! Public speaking is what I feel comfortable doing and enjoy every bit of it. Thinking about what I want to do with my communication major, I thought of maybe representing a company but felt like that wouldn't suit me. I looked further into it and realized how interesting it could be to communicate with the public following any problems or concerns. This made me tie my question together. How do they do so? What does it take to talk to the public? How does the department communicate with each other in order to save the company they work for? As I started to do more and more research, I conducted what the Public Relations department deal with and what do they actually do following a crisis. As a reviewed many companies and their tactics following a crisis within their company, I realized how different companies respond and how they deal with it (Anthonissen, 2008).
