A society should be aware of its government and how far the government will go to protect them. A society should know what role they will play in their own protection, and what they will stand for in the name of freedom and safety. A society should not go too far in sacrificing one 's freedom for safety. A person should be able to live their own life without the government stepping in and approving/disapproving of everything.
In the article Propaganda: How Not to Be Bamboozled by D.W. Cross describes different ways in which propaganda can be used. There are fourteen ways that propaganda can be used. The author explains how propaganda can be used in good ways or bad ways, but most people get the perception that propaganda is always considered a bad thing. As it manipulates many people to do things, but propaganda is just an act of persuasion that seems appealing to the person. Propaganda can easily convince someone to do things even if it is considered a bad thing.
“To be a leader means to be able to move masses” (Adolf Hitler). The quote epitomizes both the Nazi party in Germany and the World State in the novel ‘Brave New World’. The Nazi’s and World state exercised propaganda to gain dictatorship and control over their people. It is not difficult for one man or society to dictate millions with the help of advanced technology and propaganda techniques. The propaganda techniques like card stacking, glittering generalities, and plain folks are used in the propaganda of the Nazi party(Adolf Hitler) and the World State .
This is a propaganda which is used to promote soma while my target audiences are all alpha people. In this poster, I use one propaganda technique called “testimonial” to make it more effective. It will be more persuasive if someone clever and good at her job recommends soma to all α people, so I create an alpha plus doctor who is prestigious in their world. Moreover, since my specific audiences are alpha people, and all of them are smart and would like to do a better work, I emphasize the effect of soma is to balance people’s lives instead of being just happy. Meanwhile, I use “soma vocation” in my propaganda, which occurs several times in the book.

Brave New World, a story written by Aldous Huxley, examines a futuristic society in which scientists use drugs to lead people to a comfortable life which controls emotions and forgets all your struggles to have a worry free life. Miller defines name calling as, “a device to make us form a judgment without examining the evidence on which it should be based” (211). Bush uses terms such as “terrorist”, “traitor” and “enemies”. All of these terms Bush used are terms that incline a negative meaning.

Promotions attempt to persuade a spectator to buy something by attracting to their requirements and needs. This should be possible in different ways. There are bunch of sources to advertise something on to audience such as newspapers, on TV, magazines, on the web, and numerous different spots. One of the first goals of public affairs within government is to inform constituents. Very similar to a marketing firm, pubic affairs carries the responsibility to let the public know what is happening within the government. They let people know what decisions are being made and allow people to be prepared for changes. As Cultip and Center's Effective Public Relations states, “Regardless of size, the focus of the public affairs function is informing general and specific audiences about the organization’s services,”(Cultip and Center's 350).
In World War II, propaganda was a tool the Nazis used to brainwash the German public into believing the reason for their loss in World War I was due to the Jews. With the lies and false information the Nazis continued to feed to the public, they were able to obtain a large and vicious following. Today, the U.S. faces a similar issue of lies and misinformation being spread and consumed by the public through the tool of partisan media. Partisan media is a problem that is unfortunately constantly ignored because many are unaware of just how detrimental the effects of partisan media could become if not addressed and stopped soon. It is deceiving many Americans and leading them to question what and whom they can trust.
Misinformation has had no better outlet than the internet, spawning and being spread by millions of users daily. Like an epidemic, false information spreads throughout the population, infecting the minds of the people that encounter it, however, it is easy to debunk misinformation using logic and proactive research. So, if information is relatively simple to validate, why is false information being readily believed and advocated for by large parts of the population? The answer is that the polarization of politics has given almost every issue a bias and persuasive edge. Organizations, government representatives, and prominent individuals utilize rhetoric that insight anger and anxiety that leaves the public vulnerable to the embracement of misinformation.
