This scholarship will help me to fulfil my dreams as a computer science major. I aspire to use my computer science degree to start a company. While an idea for a product or company has not yet come to fruition, I am confident it will. I've always had an entrepreneurial spirit ­ running lemonade stands, raising money in school fundraisers, and toying around with business ideas as a child. At age 8, I devised a plan for a building that would provide furniture, offices, and technology to be rented monthly. Regus is a company that provides this service today and profited over $200M last year. I may have missed the boat on that, but I’ll find a way to make in impact elsewhere. This company will pay equal wages to men and women. In equivalent positions, there is no reason a man and woman should not be paid equal. Ending this wage gap is important to the progress of our society. In addition, we won't pay executives more than 60 times the lowest paid employee. That sounds like a big gap, but the average CEO is currently taking home 300 times the lowest paid employee and 200 times the median pay. Everyone is working hard toward the common goal of progress in a company whether it’s the CEO or the janitor. We will foster a healthy work/life balance by providing 20 paid days off (twice the average in America) and allowing flexible schedules for people with children. It is important to the well-being of the employees, thus the company, for employees to have free time to spend with their families. I think the key to a successful business is happy employees and that would be my primary motivation. In exchange, I would request loyalty and a very strong work
