Leonardo Da Vinci was born near Florence, Italy in 1452 to a father who failed to raise him until he was approaching adolescence. His passion for the arts began at an early age as he apprenticed for a local artisan at the age of eighteen, but his interest in science and mathematics started to lead him astray from his artistic interest. Throughout the rest of his life a trend of unfinished artwork is noticed as well as a disposition towards the modern sciences of life instead of his highly coveted artwork. Leonardo da Vinci was well know and came right about during the Renaissance time period. Leonardo was a well-educated man and was very talented in painting and sculpting statues. Leonardo put all his talent to work without wasting any time, and all of his work is still admired by the world and very popular in present day. Leonardo carried a notebook around where he sketched rivers and many realistic and creative things that came to mind. This was a great start for him in which it helped him become a stronger artist and help us figure out his technique and skill and help decode the Renaissance time frame (Bishop pg.207)

Leonardo Da Vinci was born April 15, 1452 and died in May 2, 1519. Da Vinci’s mother was a peasant by the name of Caterina Da Vinci, and his father was an attorney & notary by the name of Piero Fruosino Di Antonio Da Vinci. His parents were never officially married and only had one kid together. With Da Vinci’s father and mother put together he had 17 other half siblings. Little is known about the life of Leonardo da Vinci.
Leonardo Da Vinci was an artist, but he really thought like a scientists. He had questions anywhere from how birds could fly to how the human body worked. He even dissected human corpses and drew the different layers. He made a lot of discoveries through observation. Leonardo was able to study light and shadow, then incorporate those observations into his artwork.
Leonardo da Vinci wasn't only a brilliant artist but a skilled scientist as well. He studied nature and how things worked together in order to create more realistic paintings. He often relied upon the theories and concepts of those who had preceded him. He discovered things about lighting and how our eye perceives light solely because because he was interested in how mathematics and art worked together and did not want to accept imperfect theories. Da Vinci rejected concepts held by the optical scholars of his day which lead to some contention among them.
Leonardo da Vinci not only showed a great understanding of value, and anatomy in his compositions, but also showed his understanding of how science worked and how scientist build up on each other’s works and come up with theories and ideas that lead to more discoveries and understandings of how the world works around us and even how our own bodies work. He had many jobs and talents, some were sculptures, draftsman and as a painter. He was extremely talented in his knowledge of human bodies.
