As I walked into the cafeteria, I caught a whiff of the food being prepared in the cafeteria and thought to myself, “Why can’t we go off-campus to get lunch?” While SLA, the lunch program at Catholic High, provides the school lunches, there could be an alternative solution to this. Unfortunately, students are detained at school during lunch hours and are not able to leave campus during lunch forcing them to be served by SLA or bring their own lunch. If Catholic High School were to introduce an open-campus lunch, students and faculty would benefit greatly. While SLA does provide the lunch at CHS, they do not live up to their standard of “high quality, nutritious, and cost efficient”.
If I were to change one thing in my community, I would change the school lunches, because they taste horrendous, and they need to be healthier. First, the lunches should not be processed foods because those use a lot of chemicals that are harmful to the body. Some examples of processed foods are foods that come pre made or from a box or a can. Processed foods usually contain more con syrup and sugars, usually addicting and can make you gain weight, contains many artificial ingredients, high in carbohydrates, and uses lots of oils that are usually processed as well.
Growing up healthy eating is encouraged for many people. Some debate that schools should encourage healthy eating as well. However others believe that it is not a schools choice about what children eat. Schools should not have whole wheat lunches because children should be able to make the decisions of what they eat by themselves. Whole wheat lunches cost too much for schools.
On a typical school day, students sit through 7-8 hours of nonsensical busywork before they can even leave the building. Most high schools in America have a strictly structured day planned out for their students. To begin the day, students sit in class for a few hours. Then they are exposed to some of the worst food known to man, cafeteria food. Not to mention that once they are done scarfing down the sodium-rich garbage called food, the students have to sit in class for a few more hours before their freedom is regained.
I say my school should not change the school menu. I find it will not benefit anything with schools changing the menu it would actually make the school go down. Although it would have students eating healthier. there are also some problems with the school changing the menu.
Although many students agree that school lunches need to be changed, many feel the opposite. When changing a school lunch menu students are going to lose some of their favorite school lunches. There will be less unhealthy foods such as: little brownies, or pizzas, maybe even the cheese stick that many students love. Although it sounds like a bad idea to change school lunches, I feel differently
The food at the school is not very good. Yes, it is edible but not very tasty. Not only food but students need time away from school. So they can relax and get ready for the second half of school.
Cafeteria food isn't the best. It never has been and probably never will be. But if you take away the few items that the students do like, they would be very dissatisfied with this change for a healthier lunch menu. You don't need to have unsatisfied students just to change a lunch menu. I agree that being healthy is important.
Look back at what you ate at school and ask yourself if it is healthy. Is there healthy alternatives to school lunch? Is there a variety of choices to choose from? Are there any vegetarian choices for the students? These are just some of the basic questions you would ask yourself when thinking about the risks of school lunches.
The food contains less junk and is healthier for kids so they don’t end up having problems later down the road. “School meals are now supposed to contain fewer calories, less fat and salt, more fruit, vegetables, and whole grains.” “with sufficient time and encouragement,
Are School Lunches Really Healthy For You? Imagine going to school and thinking, oh boy what am I going to have for lunch today? And all of the sudden you see something you don’t like, so you don’t eat it and then your stomach starts to growl.
“Today approximately 16% of America 's youth are classified as obese,” in that case, changing one meal a day could prevent as much as 6% of America’s youth from becoming obese. The main issue in the cause to start making school lunch the healthy option of a students day is the undeniable fact; people love debilitating foods. Even when you are an infant in the womb, the one, only thing you crave is sugar. The best
Every day students enjoy their lunches at school. They always enjoy eating their delicious meals where they have the option to chose what they want. If their lunch is changed then their options will be limited. Changing the lunch to be healthier will not be something that will be very great for our school. If the school lunch is changed then some of the students that are larger could not get the nutrition they need and hurt the ones that really need those extra calories.
I believe public schools should have lunches that are good and good for you. The reason being that student go to school for about 7 hours. They work hard for the grades they have. It doesn 't seem fair to feed them something that is most often disgusting and bad for them when they try so hard. True, they could bring lunch from home, but what happens if they forget or can make lunch to school.
Imagine a school that has multiple healthy school food options, that is worth standing in line for. I think that all schools should have a healthy school lunch. It's very important to have nutritious school lunches so that we can be healthy and have energy during the school day. I think we should have better and healthier school menus. Our school menus are very high in cholesterol and saturated fat.
