Ted Bundy was a romanticized serial killer around the 1970s. Bundy has admitted to murdering thirty women. However, Bundy is estimated to have killed around one hundred people. The majority of the murders were female victims. A pondering thought, that has still not fully been answered, is why was Ted Bundy so romanticized by females in America. Was it his psychotic charm? Or was it just a fad at the time? Some have speculated it was because of Bundy’s intellect, wit, appearance, and, some have said, the “masculine” aurora he gave off when committing his sinister crimes. Even when people he knew in his personal life knew what he did, they still had a liking towards him; for example. ‘“You’re a bright young man. You’d have made a good lawyer. …show more content…
His mom posed as his sister until his mother got married to Bundy’s stepdad. Several speculations posit that Ted was physically and mentally abused by his grandfather. It was reported that his grandfather had severe anger issues and stress that he would take out on the whole family, but mostly on young Bundy. However, Bundy denied this during the investigation of his crimes. This wasn't all of the angst and horrific occurrences in Bundy’s young years though. When Bundy's mother moved in with Bundy's stepfather, Bundy became severely isolated; not being the only kid and having younger siblings can take a toll on someone of such a young age. Not only was Bundy isolated but he was also a shy and reserved kid. In essence, he was fantasizing about being someone else, someone important” (Dimitropoulos). All these experiences Bundy went through led him to get picked on in school by Bundy's peers. This resulted in a very cold and bitter young Ted Bundy. In Bundy’s later years, Bundy would stalk girls in his class and steal old pornography magazines out of the trash. Bundy also had a reputation for being heavily materialistic. He would always get into conflicts with his stepfather …show more content…
Bundy also learned how to build a good reputation while committing vicious acts all wrapped up under his facade. Following this, Bundy would catch his victims by pretending to be injured and not being able to get a certain object in his car. After the victims would help him to his car, he would knock them over the head, usually with a pipe, resulting in his prey being unconscious. Later, when Bundy would take the victim to his residence, he would kill his victims. Bundy would also decapitate his prey with a hacksaw, then apply makeup and wash his victim's hair. To add the cherry on top, Bundy would have sex with the dead women; finally, storing their decapitated heads as souvenirs. “When you work hard to do something right, you don’t want to forget it."’. This was Bundy’s response when reporters asked why he kept the heads (Burke). Bundy, the “animalistic killer” Would sink his teeth into his victims (Burke). This gave police just enough evidence to track down the victim's
