The Hanging Gardens of Babylon
Nebuchadnezzar II made a great impact on ancient history. He, in fact, made something so powerful and beautiful it became one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. This unique wonder was called the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Unfortunately, it no longer exists today. No one has much proof on how the Garden of Babylon got destroyed or how it exactly looked. In ancient readings Berossus, a Chaldaean priest from the fourth century B.C. described it by laying out bricks (“The Seven Wonders”). Even though The Hanging Gardens of Babylon is mostly guesswork, it still is very important today, because it’s one of The Seven Ancient Wonders of the World.

Stephanie Dalley, an honorary research fellow and part of the Oriental Institute at England’s Oxford University, believes that she found evidence of the existence of the legendary Wonder of the Ancient World.” Many people have a lot of different theories about the gardens. “Dr. Dalley thinks that earlier sources were moved wrong putting the gardens about 350 miles south of their actual location in Nineveh, (Klein)”. “King Sennacherib had left a few number of records describing a beautiful set of gardens he'd built there in connection with an extensive irrigation system” (The Seven Wonders..).Herodotus explained some parts of the town of Babylon, he mentioned in ancient writings that the outer walls were wide enough to allow two four-horse chariots to pass each other (Klein). The city also had inner walls which were not very thing, or strong (Fowler). “These walls were fortresses and temples containing statues of gold. Rising above the city was the Tower of Babel, a temple to the god Marduk, that were made to reach to the heavens.” (The Seven Wonders..).
