Why when there is so much to live for sometimes we just can not? Why can we not hold on for the good things and try to let go of the bad? Jennifer Niven wanted to show us that there are things in other people’s lives that we can not begin to imagine. I am writing to you, Jennifer Niven, so I could understand why you made Finch leave. I need to know why you made him leave Violet all alone, she was very fragile, it was selfish. Why did you not let him say goodbye? The book All The Bright Places has changed me, the way I look at life and myself. It has taught me so much. It showed me that you have to be kind, even when someone's not acting like their self because there could be something going on that they have not told you. I can hear the bustle of the kids at school. I can hear the voices echoing down below from the bell tower where Finch and Violet stood. I hear the splash from their plunge into the blue hole. They could swim forever down deeper and deeper into the water but they would never touch the bottom. I can hear the sorrow in Violet’s voice when she finds Finch’s body. She is angry. But she should not be angry, he is gone, but he left her without a goodbye. I could see what Jennifer Niven was describing. I could see the depth of the blue hole. The endlessness of it. Finch swims down into the blue hole, Violet gets worried. I could see her worry. He wasn’t coming back up, is he okay? I saw the view from atop the bell tower at school. Everyone going on with their lives down below while life is being contemplated above. Finch and Violet had first met up there. I can see the stars and planets on Finch’s closet walls. He made a galaxy for Violet. He would do anything for Violet. Anything he could do. Except stay. He could do anything but
