1. “Henry had compared poor Bernard to a rhinoceros.” (Huxley 88). In this quote Henry is partially trying to explain why Bernard is different, meanwhile unconsciously making fun of him. By calling him a rhinoceros, and he states that you can’t teach a rhinoceros tricks, he saying in other words that Bernard didn’t respond properly to conditioning. Because of this way that other people look at Bernard he is not happy, in their society everybody is meant to be happy but in some rare cases that is not true. This incident is similar in many books, for example, The Catcher in the Rye, where Holden feels that he is different and left out of society. Bernard feels the same way for the majority of the book and it can be said he resembles a rhinoceros.

In our everyday society many many people would frown upon this, it is not exactly socially acceptable. John proceeds to get very mad and Lenina has no idea why because to her it is a very normal thing to do.
5. “We don’t want to change.” (Huxley 224). This quote from Mustapha Mond is saying that the world and society that they live in is in the best condition that is possible and that if it were to change, it would collapse. The reason that this segment is in the book is because The Savage doesn’t understand why their society doesn’t want change. Compared to our society today simple changes like those suggested in Brave New World would not drastically affect us, as they would them. Conclusively the primary reason for not wanting change is to be able to remain as a coherent stable society where nobody knows too
