During the 1920’s there was much unrest in America due to the end of World War I. Immigration into the United States was limited, there was Prohibition, strikes and much more. The rise of groups was another thing that was happening during this time period. One such group was the KKK, also known as The Ku Klux Klan. This group was founded in 1866 by many confederate veterans. (Ku Klux Klan 1). They were trying to achieve a goal of restoring white supremacy in the South during the reconstruction of the south after the civil war (Ku Klux Klan 1). The popularity of this group often grew during times of unrest in the United States. In 1919 or so many groups like the KKK grew because they were “devoted to 100 percent Americanism” (Americans 415).
