In “Rising Storm” Erin Hunter writes about a young, white cat who goes through many changes and learns a couple of lessons. The story takes place in a forest divided by four clans: Thunderclan, Shadowclan, Riverclan, and Windclan. The book is based on the life of Thunderclan. The main character of the story is a fiery, orange cat named Fireheart. His apprentice, Cloudpaw, was a young kit who was given to the clan from his sister. Cloudpaw was her firstborn, from the human world. It was hard for Cloudpaw to adapt to the clan ways since he came from a soft, easy kittypet life. He didn’t understand the importance of family and friends; he only cared about what he wanted. Instead of eating fresh kill from the forest, during Cloudpaw’s free time, he sneaks into one of the humans house for kittypet food. Fireheart soon notices Cloudpaw sneaking off and decides to follow him. It lead right to the human’s house that Cloudpaw has been sneaking into for food. After Cloudpaw came back out, Fireheart confronts him. Stubborn, Cloudpaw doesn’t listen. The next day, Cloudpaw goes back to the house. This time the humans capture him. They carry him to their car and drive off. Stunned, Fireheart chases after them, but loses them. He decided that Cloudpaw choose to live the kittypet life.
