Cassy’s superior intellect enables her to study Simon carefully revealing his fears and superstitions, weapons she used to defeat him. Cassy uses an attic in the old house to her advantage. This attic is believed to be haunted by a negro woman who was confined in it by Legree himself. She was out up there after being disobedient. The servants of Legree don’t know what happened exactly, but they do know that her body was taken down from it and buried.
During the start of the book Ralph is described as the athletic, good-looking, and a decently knowledgeable “fair boy”. It tells you he is a well-rounded average boy, who hasn’t had many encounters with war and is very innocent. He is very naïve, like when he realizes there are no adults on the island, and starts to cheer. That changes when he elected as the leader, and has to take control of the circumstances. He is the boy with the most common sense, and his main goals at the beginning is to be rescued, and hopes the others boys share his vision.
"Let him be chief with the trumpet-thing."
The first chapter of lord of the flies introduces its themes of primitivity, innocence, and dissolution of order (savagery) in a way that allows readers to make comparisons between the book's characters and setting before and after they develop. Primitivity is primarily shown when the boys arrive at the island. Instead of setting obligations for themselves immediately like an adult might, they see only the freedom that they have and indulge in it with great relish. This enthusiasm is demonstrated most noticeably when Ralph begins to explore a part of the island in the first scene of the novel: "he became conscious of the weight of clothes...and stood there naked, looking at the dazzling beach and water" (Golding 10).
Leadership is an important ability for a person who likes to be the leader of a group. It involves not only personal ability, but also the popularity of this person in crowds. Leader is an important role that leads the group to a correct way and organizes everything for the whole group. In William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, several characters display aspects of leader ship, Jack is one such character. He promises his tribe with food, safety and freedom to gain power and influence which results in him becoming leader on the island.
In the midst of the 1950 's, the Cold War begins. While in that period, William Golding creates Lord of the Flies published in 1954. This is a novel about young school boys crash landing on an island. The boys on the island let the fear of something inside of them be in control. In the story, there are lots of events that take place and characters that take part.
Roger is a character that gets more malevolent over the course of the story. In chapter four, we see Roger and his friend, Maurice, acting like bullies to the children on the island. “Roger lead the way straight through the castles, kicking them over, burying the flowers, scattering the chosen stones”(Golding 60). This is one of the first stops on Roger’s road to evil. When Roger destroyed the sand castles, no one told him to stop, therefore he did not feel the need to end what he was doing.
What exactly makes Jack evil? In the passage, Golding depicts several barbaric and animalistic traits in order to convey his transformation. Jack makes a lot of gruesome remarks and backstabs everyone in order to boost himself. In order to accurately portray his sinister nature throughout the novel, Golding highlights his language and betrayal, along with using a variety of visual and small details.
Lord of the Flies (1954), written by William Golding, helped me most to understand the complexity of the world. In the midst of an unnamed war, a plane carrying a group of British boys is shot down over a deserted island. The boys, without adult supervision, initially set up rules to govern themselves, but chaos takes over. Slowly, the boys descend into savagery. Jack and his hunters lose their sense of right and wrong and eventually murder Simon using their bare hands and teeth.

Exigence is all around us in daily life, whether it be politics, the media, or even science. Exigence tends to happen during every crisis in today’s world, shining light on issues that need to be seen. William Goulding has commenced a call to action with this book, making all the readers informed on his philosophy. In “Lord of the Flies”, by William Goulding, we see that a group of boys have crash landed on an island. The boys will begin to form a civilized group within themselves, only in order to break out into disarray.
A: When Roger was first introduced to the novel, he was a furtive and mysterious boy. Roger is characterized as a boy “...who kept to himself with avoidance and secrecy” (22). This reference shows that he is secretive almost as if he is hiding something making him seem like a shy person from another person’s perspective. Then in Chapter 4, Roger’s transformation takes a giant leap as “[he] lead the way […] kicking castles, scattering the
Music culture of the 1950s birthed a genre so entirely new and different that it caused a cultural revolution among American youth in the suburban United States. This genre was dubbed Rock and Roll. Rock and Roll isn’t just a type of music, it is a lifestyle, a way of thinking. A prime example of the Rock and Roll lifestyle and new age artist would be Prince. He was a legendary musician, challenging social and musical norms; taking risks with his image and his music.
Behind the mask emerges a malice liberated by the concealments of anonymity; That malice resides in every human, waiting to surface. It is under the mask where humans are free to express the inner savage, the side that promotes violence and cruelty. Comparatively, The rise of the Nazis and the birth of World War II gave way for people to hide under the title of their uniforms and kill with no repercussions. During a period of violence, Golding wrote “Lord of The Flies” which demonstrated what would happen if a group of boys were put on an island with no adults.
To truly understand why the surrounding of an adult free island affect Roger so much, it is imperative to know how the island alters him, causing him to express his inner
